HAPPY NEW YEAR

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Good Morning and SHANA TO VAH (Happy Jewish New Year) Today is a Celebration here in our home.Today begins the year 5768 on the Jewish Calendar. The Holiday is Called "RoshHaShanah" and it is a Celebration of the begining of a New Year. It is In Judism the Day in which God created Man.Jews around the World celebrate by going to Temple and begining a 10 day long period of Repentance. The Holidays will end in 10 days with Yom Kippur which is the Holiest of all Jewish days. The children bring what is Called a Shofar (Rams Horn) to Temple today to Blow which helps ring in the New year, similar to Noise Makers on New Years Eve. It is a Happy Day and a Celebration. Another fun Custom we like to do is have cut apples and dip them in Honey to symbolize a Sweet New Year. I was born and raised a Catholic but stopped practicing when I was a Teenager. I met and Fell in love with the most Wonderful Jewish man and together we decided when we had kids they absolutely needed a Spiritual backround. Husbands family is more about the Traditions and less and not so much Religous aspect. Sassy really Enjoys being a Jew and the funny note with her is she wont even wear a Cross Necklace. I have so many and create them in my jewelry and I do wear them but she Absolutely Will Not. She cracks me up, it is like trying to take away who she is... Anyway, Hope this wasnt to boring, consider it your "Learned something New Today".
