Too Many Ideas

Oh Please Tell me Im not the "Only" person this happens too.. Sometimes, mostly with my Jewelry, but it my everyday life too, Ill be working on a piece and something else on my table catches my eye. I will put down a piece I've been working on and have to start working on the other cuz an Idea popped into my head!Lately it has been happening so much, Im working on two and three pieces at the same time. Maybe ADD or better yet, maybe Jewelry making ADD! I think I just need to slow down my Crazy Creative brain sometimes. LOL..The last two weeks my brain has been in Bedroom mode, we are Re-doing are whole bedroom top to bottom. This weekend we are Painting so hopefully next week I'll have some Pictures to show. I've moved from thing to thing in there too. Ughhh, I think I just need to Slow down. *Jamie*

Hi there,
You sound just like me. My brain never stops with the ideas. I don't sleep because of it sometimes.
Just take a deep breath and think about what you want to do first. Then let the other stuff wait. You will still be full of ideas.
Chat later,
Rosemary

its not just you! While crafting the other day with my friend I did the same thing. started one project and then inspiration hit and I moved to another. this is common among creative folk.

Thank you for posting this about yourself! Here I thought I was the only one who did this! Just two days ago I was feeling a bit overwhelmed because I had so many jewelry projects in the works. I find that I also will get ideas while creating one thing and jump over to another! It's so nice to know this is probably something most of us go through. Good luck with you bedroom redo. I'm sure it will be beautiful. Post pics so that we can see the finished results.
Take care,
Debby

I laughed when I read your post. I had just told someone I had AAADD (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder). :-) I have way to many half finished projects going on.

I am convinced that we creative people are ADHD - that is what contributes to the endless stream of ideas. We can shift around in many spurts of energy, resulting in our work! At least, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it!

Hey Jamie, I know the Crazy Creative Brain thing~ I was getting ideas at night while sleeping, while in the car, at the store.... all places that were difficult to stop & write down my Idea, but then I would Forget about it & not be able to remember when I was wanting to..... So, the Best Gift I received for Christmas was a little (tape free) Memorex Tape Recorder, it is only about 3.5" x 1.5" perfect for the pocket of my purse ~ I Love it, I have not missed an idea yet, I keep it next to me in the car, on the nightstand at night & in my pocket at the store.... I will just make a quick voice note of the idea & go on to my business.
At the end of the day I will sit down with pencil & paper to write down in a journal all the ideas, then I can do alittle sketch if needed ~ You could take the little Gem or Bauble that sparked your Eye, set it aside with a voice note to help you later.... Keep those Ideas coming, just organize them a bit~

I can relate 100%. If I don't have at least a few things going on at once, it's just not normal! I am working on vintage aprons, paintings/collages, always doodling in my journal and a Round Robin.

What is really bad (or maybe it's not that bad) is when I dream about making stuff... or wake up with all kinds of ideas - too many ideas!

Hope you are having a creative week... with not too many things going on at once. :)

I always have several projects going on at one time and never of them are ever finished. That's why sometimes it looks like I have done so much at one time- I just finish up!
Also, I was so excited to see your stuff in the pages of Porch magazine!!

EVERY creative personI know has this. not to worry. the only way it could be viewed as a problem is if you supressed it.

This is so great to see that so many others do this as well, and that it isn't just me. In our family of 3, it is just me, so now I know it is an artist thing. I seem to create best this way and the ideas/designs come in spurts.
I just took a custom order from a lady and she was so insightful, today in her email she wrote, "when the universe presents the right inspiration, materials, and time it's the right time". What an attitude! She gets it-
Enjoyed your blog, would love to have you stop by mine and visit and leave a comment. I am a jewelry designer as well as a junker and altered art inspiree.
