i'm only a few years into the teen years but, i think i've learned quite a bit. here goes in really no specific order: the teen that wakes up in the morning isn't always the same teen by lunch or even breakfast. the moods are like roller coasters, DAILY! for as many years as you have been on this earth and the life lessons you feel you have learned, they know more than you do! in their eyes, you were born an adult, you were never a teen nor did you experience anything that they may be going through. thirty, is OLD! the 80-90's was another lifetime. the things you may think are not an issue, maybe a bad hair day, a outfit your not really crazy about, that is LIFE ENDING to a teen. no matter how cool, hip or really together you think you are, you may like the same music as your teen, wear fashionable styles of clothes, have a great hair cut, to the teen YOUR NOT COOL! don't try to sing along to their music, it makes them nuts to think their parent listens to the same music as they do.they love to take pictures of themselves and to check themselves out in the mirror so don't even waste your breath! probably the the most important thing i've learned, the thing that above all else the fear of EMBARRASSMENT! don't think that i don't use the "E" word to keep miss teen in line too, i do when ever i can. i figure i'm about half way with miss teen and a lot more prepared for the little man to follow! every day is different and there is NEVER a dull moment. just wanted to share.

You put it so well! :)
She is a BEAUTY! I'm sure all you wrote comes from what you've observed from all her friends -- not her. :)
She looks like she'd be your best- bud. No, BFF. ;)
Enjoy it all, Jamie - keeps ya young! :)
XOXO

You don't even know how much i needed to read this post this morning. My oldeset daughter 13, is not a morning person... my husband and i were just joking that she takes after both grandmothers... when they were young they tell us they were horrible in the AM! thank goodness they told me cause as adults they are fabulous strong woman! it's just getting through the teen years... ugh!! cause I am a morning person! LOL thank you for sharing your teen stories... i was feeling that i was the only mom out there whose daughter thinks i'm not cool etc....
Your daughter is beautiful she takes after her mom!
xo,

What fun truths. This was a great post dear! Blessings.
Oh Jamie, very true. If I even mention a song I like that's on the same Itunes playlist as my Miss Teen, she freaks out, and I'm vowed to silence on the subject forevermore. My band of merry teens are 18, 16 and 14, and I've learned not to speak too much to them before noon if I want a normal answer. Anyway hang in there with yours! Take care, Martha
Yep!! Your are so right! And as time passes by, you will be able to add many more things to that list.
Great photo.
I just thank God I have my 10 year old to keep me sane since he's the only one with no attitude - 15 year old boy and 12 year old girl - yikes!! I had a middle school teacher tell me - they take themselves VERY seriously, so you can't. We'll make it through, Jamie!
mine is 2.5, I have a long way to go, but I am laughing at this post, because this was SO ME when I was a teen, my mom used to ask me which Tara she has in the AM, the good one or the bad one...I was awful to my mom in the AM! :( I am better now, thankgoodness~
Cute photo of you two Jamie.
You got all that right! The E word is a good one!
We will never be cool enough for them, but we thought the same thing when we were teens.
Hope you have a great day!

This was me....and I know I will get the same in return! So funny...until it is me dealing with it:-) Your daughter is GORGEOUS!!
Gooorgeous photo of you and your daughter Jaime!!! Auuuugh!!! So is this what I have to look forward to with my little ones? LOL!!! I remember how I was as a teen. Boy am I in for it!!! LOL!!! Payback! ;) XOXO,Jenn
Just a little FYI that might make you feel better... Teen girls are WAY, WAY harder than teen boys. At least at my house. I have two 14 year old girls (and a 20 yr old and 9 yr old sons) Sometimes I just have to tell them to get away from me. Sad, but true. Something I question God about on a weekly basis (I may have to write a blog on this)... why do I have to have teen daughters and go thru peri-menopause at the same time. How cruel is that? ha! Really... I love my girls and sometimes we have really good talks and good times. I just try to keep the smart mouth at a minimum and overlook some things and enjoy them when we're all not PMSing :O)
Hang in there!
omg...
your daughter is GORGEOUS!
I loved reading this....
hilarious...so me!
xo
first of all, SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL (just like her mama)!!! growing up before our eyes.
you nailed it girl. perfect. anyone who has a not quite yet teen, print this out for referral. as the mom of an older teen girl, you'll get there. it is definately a process. with some spots that you won't like at all and just when you think you are going to explode, you see the glint of the girl you knew.
and my boy is a upper teen too ---- they are so much easier!!! only moody for a short, short, one time only spot.
I love it and I love that you were able to get a picture with your teen daughter. Mine is 13 and we haven't got there yet. sigh!
If I looked like your daughter, I'd be gazing into the mirror all the time. She's beautiful. And she looks very sweet, too, which we know is way more important than looks. :)
How true, that they are different people from morning to lunchtime!
